לפני כשנה, בתחילתה של המלחמה, הייתה לי זכות גדולה להיות מתנדב על גבול אוקראינה. במהלך שבוע חלפו על פניי עשרות אלפי פליטים (נשים, ילידים ומבוגרים - לגברים עד גיל 60 לא הותרה היציאה מאוקראינה) שעל פניהם ניכר הפחד מהלא נודע, עצב על שנאלצו לעזוב את מדינתם ומשפחתם וגם הקושי מהקור העז ששרר באותה תקופה. כמוני מתנדבים רבים עשו כמיטבם להקל על מצוקת הפליטים. התמונות הקשות שראיתי הזכירו לי את סיפורם של הוריי שהינם ניצולי שואה, שנדדו באירופה עד שמצאו מקלט והגיעו לארץ
מאוקראינה לא כולם יכלו לברוח והם סובלים ממחסור חריף בכל. בתקופה זו הקור הקשה באירופה, ללא אנרגיה זמינה (במיוחד עקב השמדת התשתיות), הינו אחד הקשיים הגדולים, בפרט לאוכלוסיות החלשות
יש לנו זכות וגם חובה מוסרית לעזור לאילו שצריכים אותנו, במיוחד בתקופה קשה זו. אני מכיר אישית את עמותת "לב אחד" ומנהלה שעושים עבודה מדהימה בתוך אוקראינה מאז פרוץ המלחמה על מנת להקל על סבלה של האוכלוסייה המקומית וכמובן גם היהודית
